Second Look Request

When should you request a second look?

Sometimes a deer’s cementum lines can be harder to interpret due to fuzzy lines, over-decalcification, unique tissue characteristics, line stacking, or normal reader variation. A +/- 1 year variance is considered statistically accurate and normal in cementum annuli aging. A second look is most appropriate when the reported age differs from your expectations by more than 2 years.
